The Ultimate Dorado Bar Hopping Guide

1. Tr3s Palos Bar & Grill (Best Specials)

Tres Palos has a decent selection of beers and a short list of cocktails with unique spins. Stop by on a Thursday for their Jueves de Tr$3s Palos: $3 Beers and drinks, 2 x $3 shots, and their $3 menu, which includes chicken and marlin skewers, sliders, and other yummy menu items.

2. Limo Viejo Beach (Best Sangría)

Limo Viejo’s unique among other entries on this list because they make their own sangría in-house and have been doing so for over a decade. Not only that, but they also have their own beer. In the summer of 2023, they released Limo Viejo Ultra X, their refreshing take on a lager. Add to that their $0.25 Wednesdays, where you can get tostones, jalapeño bites, yuca bites, shrimp, and a bunch of other greasy deliciousness for only 25 cents. There are more than a few reasons to swing by.

3. El Oasis Patio Bar (Best for Simplicity)

El Oasis has a great selection of craft, domestic, and imported beers. Cocktails include staples such as mojitos, Moscow Mules, and Old Fashioneds. When you come here, try the 3P (Pama, Passoa, and Passion Fruit). The menu items are what we call “picadera, ” which mostly consists of appetizers, including a charcuterie board, smoked meat, wings, and more.

4. Lula’s Burger Bar & Grill (Best Mojitos)

Lula’s a burger joint, first and foremost. Their three-cheese burger includes a homemade 3 cheese sauce that I haven’t seen anywhere else, and I will always sing the praises of any place that sells a burger with a fried egg. For dessert? Two words: Fried. Oreos. Lula specializes in mojitos, and what really sets them apart is that you can get them in a pouch, which takes every millennial back to their Capri Sun days. Except, you know, with rum. Keep in mind Lula’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

5. La Terraza (Best Ambiance)

Ready for something a bit more upscale? La Terraza’s where you want to go. You can get classic cocktails like a mojito, sangria, or a Moscow Mule, but you should really try their house drink, the Terraza Sunset, made up of dark rum, coconut rum, pineapple, orange, and passion fruit liqueur. If you’d rather have wine, they have an excellent selection of reds, whites, and sparkling.

6. Casita Guavate (Best Mojito Variety)

Yes, Guavate is in Cayey. However, Casita Guavate also has a restaurant in Dorado. Here, you can choose from a piña colada, a Mezcaloso (their take on a mezcalita), or an Old-Fashioned.

What’s really impressive is their selection of mojitos. With options that include original, strawberry, passion fruit, and coconut, among others, you’re bound to find something that will tickle your fancy.

7. Kikita Beach House (Best Bar with a View)

Kikita has one of the best beachside views imaginable. It’s simply something that must be experienced. Now, picture that breathtaking view while holding the cocktail or wine of your choice. With over 50 different wine options to choose from and a wide array of unique house drinks, you’ll have reasons to keep coming back.

8. La Vaca Enfurecida (Best Wings)

Just like with Lula’s, this is a food place first. The vibe at La Vaca Enfurecida is that of a biker bar, so the decor is made up of motorcycles, cowhide swings, pool tables, etc. The menu consists of Puerto Rican staples like ‘carne frita’ and mofongo, but you can also expect to find the kind of burgers you need to unhinge your jaw to eat.

In addition, they have $0.25 wings on Wednesdays, and on Thursdays, you can get a $20 sampler with all the fried local goodies you could want. Be advised that some negative reviews online focused on poor service, but that has not been this writer’s experience.

9. Hiedra Cocktail Bar (Best Cocktails)

Credit: @hiedrapr

Hiedra’s a cocktail bar. While their selection includes beer and wine options, this place is all about mixology. Classics like Moscow mules, daiquiris, and margaritas are prominent, but their house drinks are why you want to come to Hiedra. Try La Bombilla (translating to and served in a light bulb). No kids allowed, but pet friendly. Make of that what you will.

10. Pirilo Pizza Rustica (Best Beer Selection)

Credit: @pirilopizza

Rounding out our list is Pirilo. There are a couple of things to love about this place. First, as the subtitle says, the beer selection is Impressive, to say the least. Any place that serves Gulden Draak automatically gets the nod from me.

Not just that, but if there’s one thing that goes well with beer, it’s pizza. Pirilo delivers in that regard, too. A great variety of pizza to go with a great variety of beers.

Conclusion

As stated in the introduction, with so many options to choose from, finding a place to crack open a cold one can be a bit daunting if you’re unfamiliar with the area. Hopefully, this list will serve as a good starting point and lead you to find spots you’ll want to come back to time and time again.
