Besides great beaches and a chill vibe, Dorado has many local up-and-coming culinary experiences to offer, starting with brunch. As you plan for the perfect beach day, we invite you to try some of the best pancakes and coffee around town.
These are our best brunch picks
1. Blooming Cup
This family-owned brunch spot has a welcoming atmosphere and serves brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It offers a variety of sweet and salty options, and I dare say it offers the best pancakes in town. The spot is located in the old town of Dorado, ideal for a short walk around the “plaza” after brunch. It is also just 10 minutes away from the Dorado Del Mar beach, a plus if you’ve booked a night at the Villa Merchan.
They use local coffee, and their tea selection is from Alou Te, the first Puerto Rican brand of loose-leaf tea that integrates local produce founded by the first Puerto Rican and Caribbean tea sommelier. We highly recommend sipping a warm cup of tea to seal the deal after your meal.
2. COA
Besides their delicious menu offerings, COA offers one of the best views for a relaxing brunch by the ocean. This top-notch location is worth the splurge. We highly recommend making a reservation prior to your visit and requesting outdoor seating, if possible.
Some of their most popular offerings are their coquito waffles and their local fruit bowl. It embraces the local culture through its cuisine and pairs it beautifully with its natural surroundings. COA also offers a good deal of morning cocktails to pair with your breakfast, ideal for a gathering with friends or a cute little date with your significant other.
3. The Yellow Door
This new spot in Dorado is a must-visit. The original restaurant in Guaynabo went viral on Instagram with its sweet inventions. This spot has a colorful, fun, and vibrant atmosphere for all the family.
Your sweet tooth will not be disappointed when you try their delicious pumpkin pancakes or affogato. It has an excellent location between the old town and Dorado’s popular beaches. Their brunch starts early, 7:30 a.m. on weekdays and 8:30 a.m. on weekends, excellent for when you have a busy day to explore.
5. KGB: Kitchen, Gallery, Bistro
The mimosas at KGB are a great way to start the day. KGB offers brunch service from 6:30 am, a great option if you want to kick start your day early. This spot is a modern take on what we know here in Puerto Rico as a “panaderia”. Their menu offers breakfast sandwiches, hot cereals, croquettes, and other popular items found at local “panaderias” as well as classic brunch staples like steak and eggs. They offer indoor seating in a modern yet welcoming space. They’re a great spot for larger parties.
5. Green Bites
Conclusion
Whether you booked a tour to El Yunque or plan to spend the day at the beach, Dorado has plenty of options to fuel your morning. We hope you’re able to enjoy them all, or at least most, and then repeat some.
